Appalachian Service Project 2019

"Be the Peace"

1 Samuel 25:6   Thus you shall salute him,  'Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, peace be to all that you have.'

ASP 2019 Trip Dates - July 6th through July 13th

Are you ready to serve families in Appalachia this summer through the home repair ministry of the Appalachia Service Project(ASP)?  Are you ready to stretch you wings and open yourself to new ideas, new friends and new skills?  If “yes” then join with other Faith senior high youth and adults participating in ASP this summer, July 6th-13th.

2019 marks Faith’s 34th year of participation in ASP.  The Faith Church youth who have served on ASP, many for multiple years, have repaired 154 homes.  The have come to understand that their ASP experience is one of stepping outside of comfort zones and bridging cultures and sharing and receiving God’s love.  The real story is not the construction, although that is much needed and our youth are proud of what they have accomplished.  The real story is in the personal stories of faith that they begin to write as they make homes warmer, safer and drier.

All senior high youth are invited to participate in ASP mission week.  We also have adult and young adult leader spots available.   We hope you will give your commitment prayerful consideration.

Please note the follow 2 dates:

January 13th - Informational Meeting, 10:00a in the Worship & Life Center

This meeting is intended for those who are curious about or intend to serve on ASP, but have not taken the trip in the past.   ASP veterans do not need to attend.

January 27th - Orientation Meeting, 3:30pp in the South Sanctuary

This is a mandatory meeting for all youth, young adults and adults that intend to make the trip.  Parents, especially those with youth that are new to the trip, are encouraged to attend as well.

To reserve your spot on the 2019 ASP Mission Team:

Youth volunteers will need to carefully read and sign the 2019 Youth Covenant and include a paragraph of why they want to serve on ASP.  We will also need a completely filled out Volunteer Registration Form and a copy of their insurance card.  This form does require a signature, but you do NOT need to notarize it.  The church office will handle the notarization.  The 2019 participation fee is $250.  If choosing the installment plan of 3 payments, the $100 deposit is due with the registration paperwork.  The remaining $75 installments are due April 1st and May 1st.  A limited number of scholarships are available, so don’t let the cost of the trip keep you from serving.  Contact David Wolf for more information.  All registration paperwork, completely fill out, must be turned in, along with the deposit, by February 24th.  All those meeting the deadline will be guaranteed a spot on the team.  Anyone missing the deadline will be put on a waiting list.
