United Methodist Women(UMW)

UMW activities benefit its members as well as the church, local community, and mission projects. Three circles meet monthly on the second Tuesday from September to May.

Kathryn Wood Circle: 9:15 AM with childcare provided.
Hope Circle: 1:00 PM
Ruth Circle: 7:00 PM
Friendship Circle: Meets the last Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM

There are five general meetings per year. News of additional activities is located on the bulletin board in the south hallway.

United Methodist Men (UMM)

UMM meet once a month on the 4th Saturday for a breakfast meeting, an activity, and a speaker to challenge us to Christian faith.

Small Groups

The 12

The 12 is a home-based Bible study prayer fellowship for women. They meet on Wednesday mornings from 9:00–10:30 to share prayer concerns for others, to discuss a current Bible-study book, and to support each other in Christian love. They pray for the church, the community, the world, and for each other daily. They welcome new members at any time.

 Faithful Stitchers

Faithful Stitches is a group of avid cross-stitches. This group is for anyone and everyone who loves to cross-stitch! They are a caring Christian group that treats each other with respect as they talk about their daily lives and their ups and downs. They start their evenings with a stitching-related devotional and hope that through cross-stitch, they will find great friends and lots of laughter.

Bring whatever you're working on and join them on the 2 nd and 4 th Thursdays of each month (except November) at 7:00 pm in N-1. Set aside this night to get going on those Christmas projects.

  Standing Stones

Standing Stones is a group of women who share their joys and concerns for each other and discuss a book or film the group has chosen. This group meets at the church at 7:00 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Standing Stones welcomes women ages 18 and older to this group for fellowship and thought-provoking discussion.

  Man To Man

This group meets on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm during the school year. A book is selected and members rotate the responsibility of reading and presenting that week's chapter. Meetings begin with a time of fellowship which is followed by book discussion and ends with prayer. Man to Man welcomes men over the age of 18 to join them.

  Crazy 8's

Crazy 8's is designed to provide those who worship at Faith the opportunity to get to know each other outside of the church setting. The larger group consists of randomly-selected small groups of 8 members each. A group is encouraged to plan a monthly social outing. At the end of 4 months, the names are reshuffled and new groups are formed. Couples and individuals are all welcome.

  Growing Older and Wiser

This group of seniors meets monthly during the school year. Their activities generally include a pot luck lunch, fellowship, and a program geared to the interests of the group.

  Moms of Faith

This informal group offers a chance to refresh yourself as you connect with other moms. Each session is stand-alone—you are welcome to attend whenever life permits. Topics have included Christian parenting, relationships, women's health, and running a family-centered home. The group provides prayer support, devotions, fellowship, and nurturing for mothers with children of all ages. Moms of Faith meets Fridays at 10:00 AM at Faith.

  Reel Faith

Reel Faith meets on Thursdays evenings @ 8:00. Activities include watching a secular movie and engaging in relevant discussion of the film's elements and message. Traditional movie snacks are provided!

  Faith Helpers

Faith Helpers provides assistance for those within the congregation who may need help with things such as transportation, shopping, or minor chores around the house. Additionally, this group serves the congregation by completing tasks at Faith as needed.

  Shawl We Pray

This group comes together each Tuesday at 11:00 to knit prayer shawls. Prayer shawls have been made for centuries as universal symbols of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, shelter, and beautify. Upon completion of a shawl, the group blesses it with a prayer. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles. Knitters of all levels are welcome.

  Simply Single

Simply Single is a small group for singles of all ages seeking involvement in educational, social, and spiritual activities designed specifically for singles. The group seeks to increase fellowship, fun, and faith among singles in the greater Champaign area. Activities reflect the interests of the group and have included overnight camping, a bonfire and wiener roast, bowling, a pool and darts party, an international dinner, and an excursion to see holiday lights. Child care is available as needed.

 Body and Soul Christian Yoga

Body and Soul is a Christ-centered yoga class. They combine traditional yoga poses with breathing techniques and spiritual awareness to create a complete practice. Class begins with meditation and ends with relaxation and prayer. Through a sequence of physical poses and breathing, they focus on God. Their practice strengthens them physically, improves their balance and focus, and fosters compassion toward themselves and others.

 Caring for Our Aging Parents

Sharing the joys and concerns of caring for aging parents and listening and learning from guest speakers on related subjects. This group meets once a month at 4:00pm on the first Sunday of the month.

 Parents of Pre Teens & Teenagers

Focusing  on surviving the “teen” years as parents.  Join us for lively discussions and insights about the teenage years.  This group meets on Sundays at 6:15pm from September through May.

 

 Young Adult Fellowship

This small group meets on Tuesday evening at 6:45pm. Though it suggests an age discrepancy, this small group is open to people of all ages and situations.  In addition to weekly studies that challenge our faith, there are many social opportunities and genuine care for one another.


Adult Sunday School

  Journeys

The Journeys Class meets at 9:00 am every Sunday morning. This is a great time to join the class of singles and couples in their 30s and 40s. A variety of class materials are used and serve as the foundation for class discussion.

  Emerging Issues

Emerging Issues meets at 9:00 am on Sunday mornings to study current topics in relation to faith issues. The class is a discussion class where the conversation flows freely.

 

  Lost sheep

The Lost Sheep Sunday School Class is intended as a place for anyone interested in looking at scripture and considering its connection to today's world. Feel free to drop in for one session or for several. Their study is focused on the weekly scripture readings—so a long-term commitment is not required. As “Lost Sheep” they welcome all “strays” who don't have a place on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am .

  You and I

The You and I class has studied many topics over the years, although books of the Bible have been emphasized. Presently the class is going through the Bible. Last year they finished Revelation and the New Testament. They are currently making their way through the Old Testament. They use tapes of Chuck Swindol and Vernon McGee to enrich the class.

There is a verse in Revelation that states you will receive many blessings from the study of God's word and You and I class believes and knows that this is true. They are eager for you to come and join the class. The class is presently taught by Dennis Sparks and welcomes all age groups.

    CBS

Community Bible Study is a year-long study. They offer groups on Sundays at 10:30 am in Room 9 and on Fridays at noon in Room 9. Join either group at any time! The Community Bible Study guide for this year examines the book of Mark. Find timely application to your own life in these studies as you see how God can work with you. Whether you are new to Bible study or an old hand at it, you will enjoy the comfortable atmosphere, faith sharing, and fun of this small group format. Childcare for Nursery - 5th grade is available on Sunday. Child care for any age is available on Friday.

 

  Discovery

This caring, sharing adult class meets at 9:00 am Sunday mornings and typically involves 20–30 participants with a wide range of backgrounds and ages. Each session includes announcements, prayer concerns, and devotions as well as lively, discussion-based lesson topics. The open, discovery-style learning is through classroom activities and informal discussion.

Leadership is voluntary and rotational. Study series are often Bible-based, sometimes with a modern twist. Topics are democratically selected and varied throughout the year. The class features periodic social activities for fun and fellowship. They also engage in outside service and support activities such as Christmas caroling, assistance for needy families, Cunningham Home Guardian Parent Program, and our own Faith Youth Club. Join them for fun, fellowship, much laughter and enjoyment!
