Who We Are
Faith Church is a community striving to love one another, serve others and follow Christ.

All are welcome – Our invitational spirit is behind everything we do. You are welcome, just as you are, but we will challenge you to grow. FUMC is a growing congregation in a changing and vibrant community. We know what it means to find a place where you belong that’s meaningful for our lives. We want you to connect with Jesus Christ and to find belonging and community at FUMC.
Meaningful Worship – You will experience meaningful worship at Faith United Methodist Church.
We strive to offer worship experiences (Sundays at 9:00 & 10:30 am) with meaningful music, relevant preaching and frequent communion. We believe communal worship is essential to our vision and mission because worship is forming us to be the disciples we are called to be in our community and world. God is shaping us through the stories of Scripture, through the sacraments and through the sharing in one another’s lives.
Children – Children are not only welcome at FUMC, children are valued members of the FUMC church community. Children and youth participate in worship. Children and youth participate in discipleship classes. Children and youth are actively engaging in service and mission as essential members of the FUMC community. Children mean a lot to our faith community because they are not only the church of the future, but they are vital to the church of today. We love kids and youth at FUMC and our desire is for them to become the people God is calling each of them to be. All are welcome!
Formation Through Study & Christian Conversation – Spiritual formation is an essential practice of the FUMC community. Community members find community and support for their faith journeys as well as the tools and resources for growing into the deep people God calls us to be. All of FUMC’s discipleship groups encourage spiritual and personal growth. We believe wholeheartedly that the stories we read in the Bible have the power to shape our lives as we seek to live as disciples.
God is forming us into the people God needs us to be through study and the Christian conversation that happens in small group settings.
Friendship – We’ve committed ourselves to being holy friends at FUMC. In the Bible Jesus referred to his disciples as his friends. We believe we are friends of God and that God calls us to grow in friendship with others. At FUMC we don’t always agree. We are a diverse community, but we respect our differences and choose to live in love with one another.

We hold up the apostle Paul’s vision of love in I Corinthians 13 as a model for our communal life together and our desire to find holy friendship in the church. Paul says, “Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrong doing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Generosity – At the center of our ministry and mission is a desire to be as generous with our neighbors as God is with us. This means we choose to give ourselves away in mission and outreach. We seek to be generous with our time, our prayers, our presence and our financial gifts. To do the vital ministry we are called to, we need to be generous. To be the kind of people we desire to be and the kind of neighbors we are needed to be, generosity is an essential practice for our lives and our witness.
Service – We long for others to know the transformative love of Jesus Christ and so service is an essential practice at FUMC. Our neighbors are important to us and so FUMC community members are committed to serving meals through several mission organizations throughout the greater Champaign/Urbana area. We are committed to meeting the needs of children, youth and vulnerable adults in our area schools.

What to Expect
What are the worship services like at FUMC?
Faith UMC offers two worship experiences on Sunday mornings.

Our 9:00 am Fusion Worship Service is casual and contemporary.
The service is held in the Worship & Life Center on the northwest side of the building.
There are doors conveniently located on the northwest side to bring guests in just outside the
Worship and Life Center.
Dress is casual and music is led by a praise band.
There is singing, Scripture, a sermon, music from the band and a special time for kids.
After the children's moment, kids are invited to go to Sunday school if they'd like to.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is received on first Sundays
and at other times throughout the year.

Coffee and children are always welcome in the Worship and Life Center.
Our 10:30 Celebrate Worship Service is our classic or traditional service.
The service is held in our North Sanctuary on the north side of the building.
People come dressed in a variety of ways. Some At our traditional service, we sing traditional hymns
led by a piano or organ. The Sanctuary Choir often leads in worship. Even though we label the
service a traditional service, it is still rather casual in dress and is very welcoming.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on first Sundays
and at other times throughout the year.
Are children welcome in worship?
Yes. Children are always welcome, or a nursery is available for children birth to age 5.
You can expect for there to be some children in the service of worship, so you should never feel
as though you have to take your children to the nursery. At Faith UMC we love having the
youngest among us. We’ve included a special time in the worship service at our 9 am just for them.
When we say all are welcome, we really mean it!
Relax and feel free to sit wherever you feel comfortable. We know children may be curious about what’s going on during the service, so sitting toward the front is not a problem.
If you feel you need to leave during the service with your child, we encourage you to feel
comfortable moving about, but also encourage you to return to the service when ready.
We offer a parent/child area just outside the sanctuary in the gathering area.
If a parent needs a place to feed a baby, or a parent and child simply need a quiet place for a few minutes, it’s available. There’s also a tv so you can see and hear what’s happening in the services. Children are important to Jesus and they are important to us.
What do people wear to church at FUMC?
You are welcome to wear whatever feels most comfortable for you! Some people dress casually
at all services, while others choose to get a little more dressed up. You’ll see a variety of dress styles
at each service – jeans, suits, khakis, skirts, flip-flops and heels.
Just come as you are – you’ll fit right in!
Where do I sit in worship at FUMC?
You are welcome to sit anywhere in the worship spaces during services.
Feel free to ask an usher or greeter to introduce you to someone in the congregation
who can answer any questions you might have about our services and ministries.
There is always a place for you at Faith UMC.
Is there fellowship time after worship?
The main fellowship time happens between our two worship services from 10-10:30 am.
(Although folks tend to stick around and visit after our 10:30 service too.)
Coffee and donuts are served every week.
Some folks will grab a goody and a cup of coffee and sit at the tables for some time spent visiting. Others will stand around a chat a bit over coffee and a treat.
This time in fellowship gives us an opportunity for folks that attend different services to get to know one another as well as to interact with guests or learn about volunteer opportunities.
